Chimney Inspections

Visual inspections for chimneys has been the norm for many years and an experienced sweep such as Tom (32 yrs on the job) can diagnose many problems after talking with the homeowner and inspecting the chimney visually from the bottom and also from the roof. But even Tom felt uncomfortable with this method, especially for tall chimneys or ductwork that took twists and turns. For this reason, Tom was the first in line when a video camera was developed that could explore the insides of the tallest chimney or follow the ductwork of a dryer vent. This first camera used floppy disks and was in black and white. Our newest camera is digital and in color. The homeowner can watch and see any problems as they are noted.
Camera inspections for the fireplace and dryer vents are available for residential and commercial accounts. Many management companies and condo boards have contacted Tom after having problems with ductwork that could not be easily seen. Problems such as disconnected pipes or expanded fire stops can be located precisely, eliminating costly exploration of walls and ceilings.
